Storyography

Sound, motion, style, texture, mood, pace, light, color... sometimes it’s hard to determine just what it is that makes something memorable. For us, it’s all about the story.  This idea of 'story first' guides all of our work and makes us different from what you might think of as simply a production company.

In a 1998 article for School Library Journal, Julie Cummins proposes the word storyography as a way of differentiating whole-life biographies from those that choose to focus only on a section of the subject’s life.  More specifically, the storyography builds a narrative around an incident in a subject’s life that is story first, biography second, and not merely a simplified biography.

We aren’t the guys you throw your storyboards and script at for us to go execute. We’ve been there done that. Our focus is on capturing the essence of what makes something memorable and then translating that feeling into a compelling piece of film or a still photograph.

In all of our work we are involved from the initial creative all the way through to post production and delivery. We are strong collaborators and want to help our clients leverage our expertise. We want to own a project and invest all of our energy and passion into it to make it great.

So that’s where this funny word STORYOGRAPHY came in. It’s our way of saying that we view the work holistically, not just from an execution standpoint like a production company.

Don't get us wrong, we kick ass at execution too, it's just with a purpose smile
